Chance

This group of pieces was produced as part of my work as Writer in Residence at the Wolds Words literature festival in October 2005. Working alongside fellow Writer in Residence, poet Pat Borthwick, the collages grew, incorporating words from a long poem entitled Chance that Pat produced over the course of the 4 four day festival. The overall subject matter of the poem, and certain key phrases in particular, seemed to resonate particularly well with some of my central artistic concerns and working processes. The resulting work is, I think, a good example of a very effective and creative collaboration, with the visual artworks entering into a dynamic relationship with Pat’s source texts rather than offering a straightforward transcription.
